As separatist pressure mounts, Organa serves on Chancellor Palpatine's Loyalist Committee with Padmé Amidala and Mas Amedda, and is present in the Chancellor's office when emergency powers are granted and the Clone Wars begin.

22-19 BBY - The Clone Wars

Throughout the war Organa leads humanitarian relief efforts, negotiates for neutral worlds such as Mandalore and Christophsis, and works with Amidala and Mon Mothma to oppose bills expanding military spending and executive authority.

19 BBY - The Petition of the Two Thousand

Organa joins Amidala, Mon Mothma and other senators in formally demanding that Palpatine return his wartime powers to the Senate — an act that plants the seed of the future Rebel Alliance.

19 BBY - Order 66 and the fall of the Republic

Organa rides to the burning Jedi Temple and narrowly escapes clone troopers, then rescues Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi aboard the Tantive IV. He hears Palpatine proclaim the Galactic Empire before the applauding Senate.

19 BBY - Adopting Leia

After Padmé Amidala dies giving birth on Polis Massa, Organa takes the infant Leia home to Alderaan, where he and Breha raise her as their daughter and heir, concealing her true parentage.

With news of the Death Star confirmed, Organa breaks openly with the Empire at the Alliance council on Yavin 4, pledges Alderaan's support, and sends Leia to Tatooine to bring Obi-Wan Kenobi into the war.
