Jango Fett was a human Mandalorian bounty hunter widely regarded as the best in the galaxy during the final years of the Galactic Republic. Hailing from Concord Dawn, he wore distinctive Mandalorian armor equipped with a jetpack, a flamethrower, and dual WESTAR-34 blaster pistols, and flew the Firespray-class starship Slave I. Around 32 BBY he was chosen — through Count Dooku, acting on behalf of the fallen Jedi Sifo-Dyas — as the genetic template for the clone army secretly bred on Kamino, and in payment he requested an unaltered clone whom he raised as his son, Boba Fett. In 22 BBY, Fett was hired by Dooku to assassinate Senator Padmé Amidala, a plot that unraveled when Obi-Wan Kenobi tracked him to Kamino and then to Geonosis. During the First Battle of Geonosis, Fett was killed in the arena by Jedi Master Mace Windu, though his genetic legacy endured in the Grand Army of the Republic and in his son.

22 BBY - Confrontation on Kamino
Obi-Wan Kenobi traces the assassination to the cloning facility on Kamino and confronts Fett, who battles the Jedi and escapes with Boba aboard Slave I, dueling Kenobi through an asteroid field before fleeing to Geonosis.
22 BBY - Death at the Battle of Geonosis
During the First Battle of Geonosis, Fett fights in the arena but is beheaded by Jedi Master Mace Windu, ending his career as the clone template of the Republic army.
