Ki-Adi-Mundi was a Cerean Jedi Master from the planet Cerea, distinguished by his species' towering binary brain and elongated cranium, who served on the Jedi High Council across an extraordinary span of galactic history — from the golden age of the High Republic through the fall of the Galactic Republic. He was already a seated Council member during the crisis on Brendok and the hunt for the Sith assassin Mae roughly a century before the Clone Wars, and he was still serving on the Council when Qui-Gon Jinn presented Anakin Skywalker to the Jedi after the Invasion of Naboo, famously insisting that the Sith had been extinct for a millennium. He fought in the Battle of Geonosis that opened the Clone Wars and became a Jedi General in the Grand Army of the Republic, leading clone forces at Geonosis's second campaign, Dantooine, Quell and elsewhere, and taking part in the Council's deepening suspicion of Chancellor Palpatine. Ki-Adi-Mundi died in 19 BBY on the crystalline world of Mygeeto, shot down by the Galactic Marines he commanded when Palpatine issued Order 66 and began the Great Jedi Purge.

Mundi sat on the Jedi High Council on Coruscant during the final century of the High Republic, taking part in the Order's response to the murders of Jedi Master Indara and others and the investigation into the fugitive Mae.

He questioned Master Sol and the Council's handling of the events surrounding the witches of Brendok, and was among those who debated how much to disclose to the Senate as the Order's public standing came under strain.
32 BBY - The Naboo crisis and the return of the Sith
As a Council member, Mundi heard Qui-Gon Jinn's report of a Sith attacker on Tatooine and declared it impossible, insisting the Sith had been extinct for a millennium. He was present when the Council reluctantly permitted Anakin Skywalker's training after Qui-Gon's death.
