Bib Fortuna was a male Twi'lek from Ryloth who rose from the criminal underworld to become the majordomo and chief of staff of the Hutt crime lord Jabba Desilijic Tiure. Born into a prominent Twi'lek clan with deep ties to organized crime — much to the disgust of his politically minded cousin Beezer Fortuna — he worked as a slave trader preying on his own species before entering Jabba's service. For decades he ran the day-to-day operations of Jabba's Palace on Tatooine, screening visitors, managing the court and its entertainments, and handling his master's business, all while privately loathing the Hutt and coveting his throne. He was present in Jabba's box at the Boonta Eve Classic podrace on Tatooine in 32 BBY, remained at the Hutt's side through the Clone Wars and the rise of the Empire, and in 4 ABY admitted Luke Skywalker into the palace during the Rebel effort to rescue Han Solo — an intrusion that ended with Jabba's death aboard his sail barge over the Great Pit of Carkoon. In the power vacuum that followed, Fortuna at last claimed the palace and Jabba's territory for himself, ruling as a minor crime lord until 9 ABY, when the bounty hunter Boba Fett, returned from the Sarlacc, shot him dead and took the throne.

When Luke Skywalker came to the palace to free Han Solo, Fortuna — pressed by a Jedi mind trick — brought him before Jabba, against the Hutt's wishes.
4 ABY - The death of Jabba the Hutt
Jabba was killed aboard his sail barge at the Great Pit of Carkoon during the botched execution of Skywalker, Solo and their companions. Fortuna survived the collapse of Jabba's criminal empire.

With his master dead, Fortuna finally seized the throne he had long coveted, ruling the palace and a diminished remnant of Jabba's Tatooine holdings.
9 ABY - Killed by Boba Fett
Boba Fett, having escaped the Sarlacc and recovered his armor, entered the palace with Fennec Shand, shot Fortuna dead on his dais, and claimed the throne for himself.
