Snoke was a Force-sensitive humanoid male who reigned as the first Supreme Leader of the First Order during the New Republic era, commanding its military conquest of the galaxy and personally seducing Ben Solo to the dark side as his apprentice Kylo Ren. In reality Snoke was not a natural being but an artificial genetic construct — a "strandcast" — created on the hidden Sith world of Exegol by the resurrected Darth Sidious and his Sith Eternal cultists to serve as a manipulable proxy through which the Emperor could rule the First Order from the shadows. Though engineered as a puppet, Snoke possessed an independent mind and free will, and he is best known for training Kylo Ren, orchestrating the destruction of the New Republic's Hosnian system, and taunting Rey aboard the flagship Supremacy. His reign ended when Kylo Ren, feigning loyalty, cut him in half with Rey's lightsaber — a death that ultimately served Sidious's larger design, as additional Snoke clones remained in stasis on Exegol.

In the aftermath of Emperor Palpatine's death at the Battle of Endor, the Sith Eternal on Exegol used cloning and genetic sciences to engineer Snoke as a strandcast — an artificial being designed to act as the resurrected Sidious's proxy in the wider galaxy.

~28-34 ABY - Rise of the First Order

Emerging from the Unknown Regions, Snoke came to rule the First Order as its Supreme Leader, rebuilding Imperial-derived military power while, unknown to most, being influenced from afar by Sidious.

~28-34 ABY - Corruption of Ben Solo

Snoke reached out to the Force-sensitive Ben Solo, son of Han Solo and Leia Organa, turning him against his uncle Luke Skywalker and molding him into the dark-side warrior Kylo Ren.

34 ABY - The Hunt for Luke Skywalker

Appearing as a towering hologram, Snoke directed General Hux and Kylo Ren in the search for the missing Luke Skywalker and oversaw the First Order's assault that destroyed the Hosnian system and the New Republic capital.

34 ABY - Death aboard the Supremacy

Aboard his flagship Supremacy, Snoke tortured the captured Rey and ordered Kylo Ren to kill her. Believing his apprentice fully turned, Snoke was instead betrayed and bisected by Ren, who ignited Rey's lightsaber at his side and seized the mantle of Supreme Leader.

35 ABY - Snoke revealed as a puppet

On Exegol, the surviving Sidious revealed dormant backup Snoke bodies suspended in tanks, confirming that Snoke had always been a manufactured vessel and vessel-line for the Sith Lord's will.
