SWordle: green letters now carry over

You found LIGHT in position one. You know it’s staying there. So why were you typing it again every single guess?

You’re not anymore.

What changed

When a letter turns green, SWordle now drops it into the same position on your next guess for you. Start typing and the cursor skips right over it, so you only ever type the letters you’re still guessing at.

Four greens and one unknown? You type one letter and hit enter.

Overriding a green

Sometimes you want that square back — you’re testing a theory, or you fat-fingered the guess that made it green. Tap the green box and it clears, and you can type whatever you want in it.

Type that same letter back in and it turns green again. Nothing is locked. The board is still yours.

Turning it off

This is on by default. If you’d rather do it the old-fashioned way, open Settings and switch it off — SWordle will go back to an empty row every guess.

Why we did it

The most common thing we heard about SWordle was that retyping known letters felt like busywork, not puzzle. It’s the part of the game where nothing is being decided. The hard part is the letters you don’t know yet, and now that’s the only part you type.

Your stats, streaks, and hints all work exactly the same.
